| Prof. Devendra K Gupta joined as Vice Chancellor of the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University UP in April 2011. |
| He has held distinguished positions of eminence and was previously serving as the Professor and Head, Department of Pediatric Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He has been involved with the Pediatric Surgical Care, postgraduate teaching and research since July 1979. Prof Gupta has been instrumental in planning and initiating the Stem Cell Research in the specialty, preparing the curriculum for the National Association, MCI and the Diplomate of National Board for the uniform standard of teaching and training in pediatric surgery in all the Medical colleges across the country. |
| He has published over 260 scientific publications and 188 book chapters, he has delivered many named orations, over 350 Invited Guest Lectures in India and overseas. He has published 10 Reference Books in various subspecialties of pediatric surgery. Apart from being the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Surgical Specialties, he is on the editorial board of over 10 International Journals. |
| He has also trained many senior consultants and the trainees from Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bangladesh, Saudi Arab, Germany, Italy, USA, Singapore and many other countries at AIIMS, projecting the positive image and projecting India effectively at the International Platform. |
| Dr Gupta has been invited as the Visiting Professor to many Universities and teaching centres around the world. He has trained over 60 pediatric surgeons, now placed in many institutes and medical colleges. He has been the Chairman for the M.Ch, Ph.D and Diplomate Examination. He is a Life member of 28 scientific bodies and Associations around the world. He has organized many teaching courses, symposia, teaching workshops and conferences, including the Annual Conference of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the Biennial SAARC Congress of Pediatric Surgery, 20th Congress of the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgery and recently the 3rd World Congress of Pediatric Surgery, with the participation of World Leaders in the Specialty from all over the world. |
| He has been the President (Unanimously elected) of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the SAARC Associations of Pediatric surgeons, the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons and President Elect of the World Federation of the Associations of Pediatric Surgeons (WOFAPS representing over 110 countries). Dr Gupta has received Awards, honours, Medals, titles and Life Long Hon. Memberships of Pediatric surgical Associations from India and overseas. Dr. Gupta has recently been nominated for the highest award from the European Association of Paediatric Surgeons for 2012. |
| He continues to represent India and play the lead role in the speciality at the National and International level to improve the health of the surgical children, teaching and research in the field of Pediatric Surgery. |
