A Seminar on “Translational Health Sciences: Pathways to Discovery” was organized by the Research Cell of the university on 28th and 29th April 2009 in the Scientific Convention Centre.  In recent years it has been seen that many scientific discoveries are being made but not actually leading to real advances in medical therapies, diagnostics etc. The new field of Translational Health Science aims to bridge this gap.  This seminar was organized to sensitize and create awareness about this new branch. Many luminaries in the field of medicine graced this 2 day seminar – including  Dr MK Bhan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Dr NK Ganguly, Ex Director General,  Indian Council of Medical Research,  Dr SS Agarwal, Ex Director ACTREC, Mumbai and Prof Saroj Chooramani Gopal, Vice Chancellor CSMMU.  Organising Secretary was Prof Shally Awasthi, Faculty in Charge, Research Cell.

This event was organised in the Scientific Convention Centre on 21st October 2008. The Chief Guest was Dr AK Mahapatra, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. Guest of Honour was Dr VP Kamboj, Former Director, Central Drug research Institute, Lucknow, who also delivered the Key Note Address on “Issues on Intellectual Property Rights in Biomedical Research”.  Dr Shally Awasthi, while presenting the Annual report of CSMMU Research Cell and highlighting its achievements,  made the point that research publications had increased dramatically over the last 2 years. A poster display of published faculty research was held and prizes given out.
