VC announces KGMU Centenary Fund

Our Vice Chancellor is in the process of forming a registered "KGMU Centenary Fund". This is part of the preparation for the centenary celebrations less than 2 years away - in December 2005. He aims to raise about Rs 100 crores by the end of 2004. The funds will be utilised to build a 'state of the art' 1000 bedded multispeciality "KGMU Centenary Hospital".

Intranet on the anvil

Connection of the entire campus through a network of computers has been on the cards even before KGMC became a university. Now this dream seems set to become a reality and year 2004 should see setting up of this wide area network which will connect different points in the campus and allow free flow of information instantly. Not only text but graphics and video will flow freely from one point to another, revolutionising the working on the entire campus. Truly, the possibilities are so endless that at this point in time one cannot even foresee all the changes that this will bring about.

KGMU website gets a push

With the new administration taking over, many changes are being planned in the official website of the university. Continuous updation is planned, with a more active approach of 'investigative journalism' - which means that it will be the website committee's job to fish out news rather than wait for news to reach us. Students will be involved both as reporters and editors. All communications such as job vacancies, advertisments and administrative changes will be put up on the 'Notice Board' of the website. All examination results will likewise go onto the website. The website will periodically bring out a 'Newsletter'. With intranet support we expect there will be much easier access to information to make this all happen!

Alumni Website Launched

It was a long felt need that information about alumni of this institution - their present placement, achievements and contact details should be available on our website. This need has finally been met by the launching of an alumni website. This is accessible through our official website - kgmcindia.edu both from the index page and from the alumni page. Alumni can register their own information as well as trace an old friend or classmate. All alumni are requested to visit the site and register themselves.
