  • New Emergency & Trauma Centre: Work on a new Emergency & Trauma Centre building at No 10, Shahmina Road had been underway for the last 2-3 years. In the face of many obstacles the new centre was inaugurated on the 24th December and finally started functioning on 9th January 2004. This new centre is not simply a change from the old building to the new one. It is a major shift in the concept. It is a self contained unit wherein all the requirements for complete trauma and emergency services are available under one roof. There are 50 beds and 4 operation theatres - 3 for general surgery and 1 for orthopedics. Besides emergency services in trauma, surgery, neurosurgery, medicine, pediatrics and oral surgery, the centre also has facilities for CT scan unit, Xray, ultrasound, pathology and biochemistry. A post operative ward with 5 ventilators is also functional. Six ambulances are commissioned to transport patients within the campus.
