Georgian 1982 Batch Silver Jubilee Meet
This event was held on 22nd and 23rd December 2007. A get together was arranged in the Brown Hall (Convocation Hall) of the university on the 22nd morning. About 110 batch mates along with their families attended the meet, converging from across the state and country. There were some who met their classmates after as long as 20 years. Batchmates hugged each other, introduced their families, and recalled old days. In a comic exercise, 6 couples who were married from within the batch were honoured with bravery awards - Paramveer Chakra and Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal. Old photographs were put up. About 50 teachers were felicitated. Cultural programmes were organised in the evening. On the whole it was a very successful event with loads of bonhomie and camaraderie. Organising Secretary was Dr Ashish Wakhlu.
 
International Georgian Alumni Meet held in Mauritius

International Georgian Meet was organised in Mauritius between 21st and 26th June 2007. About 50 alumni, mostly from India and Mauritius attended the event, which was held at the Indian Resort Hotel in Mauritius on 23rd June 2007.  Indian delegates reveled in  the pristine beauty of the island, explored the towns and  natural sightseeing spots, basked on the sunny beaches, enjoyed the water sports and  marveled at the progress of this Hindu dominated country.  The formal Meet was inaugurated by senior Georgians Dr DC Pandey and Dr BN Dhawan. Dr Abdul Khalid  from Australia announced that the next Georgian Meet would be held in Melbourne, Australia in 2009. All the alumni present came up with their families to be introduced and each one recounted a joke or some incident from the good old days at the alma mater.   The formal speeches were followed by dinner and  a cultural program including Kuchipuri dance recital, live band and Sega dances. As the finale, all those present also joined the dancers. The entire atmosphere was  charged with bonhomie, nostalgia and camaraderie.

 
Farewell Ceremony 2007 held

For the first time in its history, the university organized an elaborate ceremony to bid farewell to outgoing MBBS, MD/MS, diploma and DM/MCh students.  The function was held on 11th Fabruary in the Scientific Convention Centre. Mohd Amir Mohammed Khan, Raja Mehmoodabad was the Chief Guest on the occasion, which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor. The students were exhorted to serve the ailing humanity with compassion ad always keep the Georgian flag flying high. Each student was called out by name and a ‘tilak’ applied on his or her forehead amidst the chanting of sanskrit ‘shloks’.  They were encouraged to donate to the Central Library Fund of the university by giving ‘Gurudakshina’.  Besides the Vice Chancellor, the Dean, Prof AM Kar, and the Chief Guest,  the students were addressed by 3 senior teachers. Four students also expressed their sentiments towards their alma mater through emotional speeches.   The Chief Guest announced starting  Raja Mehmoodabad CSMU Oration – an annual event  in which an international or national luminary would be invited to deliver an oration at the university.  The function was followed by high tea.

 
3rd Convocation of KGMU held 22nd January 2007

This much awaited event was the 1st such event to be hosted by the new Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Hari Gautam. A Prize Distribution ceremony was held on Friday, the 19th January in the Brown Hall of the university to give away prizes to junior batches of students. This was followed by the 5th Dr NN Gupta- Dr CG Agarwal Oration delivered this year by Prof SS Agarwal, FNA on “The Future of Medicine”.  The lecture was followed by lunch for faculty and awardees at 1905.

On 20th and 21st January,  faculty dress rehearsals were held at the Scientific Convention Centre.  The Convocation started on the dot at 11 am. The entire building was beautifully decorated. His Excellency Shri TV Rajeshwar, Governor of Uttar Pradesh presided over the function. First, the Honoris Causa were conferred on 3 eminent medical men – Dr Naresh Trehan, Dr KM Cherian and Dr Sudarshan K Agarwal. MBBS and masters, DM and MCh degrees were conferred next. The Chief Guest, Dr Naresh Trehan delivered the Convocation Address. Then the Dean called the prize winners. Kum Surabhi Chandra was awarded the Chancellor’s Medal and Kum Sheetal Varma bagged the Hewett Mdal this year. Then the Vice Chancellor presented the 16 newly instituted awards.  Finally, the gathering was addressed by His Excellency. The event was followed by lunch in the Convention Centre lawns.
