The department of Surgical Gastroenterology has been a dynamic department since its inception in January 2006. It has made a steady progress within a few years and offers variety of Gastro intestinal surgeries in the area of hepatobiliary, pancreatic surgery, coloproctology and minimal access surgery. The department also offers specialized diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic facilities under its aegis. It has the proud privilege of being the only place apart from SGPGI, Lucknow which imparts training in public sector in the state of Uttar Pradesh in the field of endoscopy and advanced laparoscopy. |

The department is well on course to start M.Ch course soon and would be one of the few places in country to offer the super specialty training course in the field of Surgical Gastroenterology. The experienced and well trained faculty is actively involved in MBBS, MS teaching and training and also offers post MS senior residency with six seats on an annual basis. The department also has a curriculum for training of nutritionists and dieticians and has many research projects with grants from ICMR and also from public private collaboration from Pfizer and Glaxo SmithKline.
Apart from starting the M.Ch course in Surgical Gastroenterology the department aspires to start the master degree course in nutrition, offer specialized training courses for technicians in minimal access surgery and GI endoscopy and to establish a world class training and research center. It also has plans to establish the state of the art solid organ transplant center and bariatric surgery unit in future. |
