The Ex-Vice Chancellor of King George Dental University Dr. C.P. Govila created the department in 2006. During the initial stage of creation Oral medicine was run by Dr. Shalini Gupta (M.D.S. Oral Pathology).
Dr. Anurag Tripathi (M.D.S Oral Medicine & Radiology), joined the department in January, 2007 as lecturer and was subsequently made first Head of the Department. He is working as assistant professor and head of the department |
Facilities
1. Routine dental OPD patient check up.
2. Clinical diagnosis of oral lesions & conditions based on investigations.
3. Medical management of oral lesions which are non surgically manageable.
4. Screening of pre cancer and cancer patients.
5. Orofacial radiological investigations including intra oral x-rays, Ortho pantomogram, cephalometric views etc.
6. Distribution of free medicines from the OPD Counter for benefit of poor patients.

Vision
The Department Of Oral Medicine and Radiology runs a separate oral cancer screening clinic, which deals with oral precancer and cancer early detection and management/ follow up cases. Department has two analog OPG and Ceph. Units. Soon it will have digital unit besides automatic X-ray developing machines, a general body X-ray unit and radiological protection equipments. |
