CSMMU Creative League formed
"God, give us the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish one from the other." - The Serenity Prayer of Reinhold Niebuhr
Origin : To innovate through leadership and creativity for changing processes and paradigms with the goal to benefit our stakeholders and us through introspection and evolution, collaboration and partnership to create a scholarly environment for nurturing talent and promoting search for knowledge. "We see the world, not as it is, but as we are", hence the beginnings will be made within each of us and around our microenvironments that will merge overtime, changing our trajectory.
Definition: Conglomeration of like minded thinkers.

Members: Nominations for two faculty members from each department were invited. Membership is open to all medical faculty under mentorship of Honorable Vice Chancellor of KGMU.

Aim : - Unlocking the creative spirit amongst us. Use of group thinking to create a Mastermind Alliance to bring ideas/innovations, and act on problems and their solutions in a spirit of harmony with conviction, compassion and commitment.

Methodology adopted : The group met on several occasions and had brain storming sessions to think of ways which can give Medical University a face lift. General rules of brainstorming were followed. There after, to prioritize the needs, matrix calculations were done. Bottom line being that we make a dent in a short term (with ultimate long term impact) and feasibility, in other words, without involving much funding and manpower. Creative league's interest in a particular area was also taken in to account. Three high priority areas were thus defined and champions volunteered to make presentations to the whole group. All ideas were welcomed and discussed, nobody was to own any idea.

Tasks on hand : As identified by above methodology, challenges relating to Medical University were identified, the group agreed that top most priority is to make KGMU a patient friendly hospital by Bridging the gap between Teacher-student and Doctor-patient. Group thought that teacher-PG student interaction will have healthier environment, PGs would be more confident and it would improve their performance and thus patient care. Better patient doctor interaction meaning quality time spent with patient to build his confidence and have patient friendly OPDs (PFU) and patient assistant booths (PAB) (on the concept of Service as given in the KGMU motto and stated simply "May I help you?"). Ideas flowed on various ways in which Faculty-PG interaction can improve, including Grand Assembly for Post graduate students at the beginning and end of session where Vice Chancellor along with the faculty would address the students and talk about the mission statement of Medical university, regular coffee breaks, informal debates on social issues to have an official spokesperson to deal with media. Motivational lectures for faculty and PGs were also recommended.

Achievements: Grand assembly, tree planting, debate received applaude. Very soon PABs and PFU will be functional. Color coding scheme for easy identification of various landmarks will be undertaken. Site maps will be displayed at various sites. Also the list of facilities/investigations available here along with the price list will be on display. Local conveyance with in the medical university for patient transport will also be provided Outcome & Feedback: Self-assessment by the members of creative league, inputs/suggestions by students/faculty. Media projection of KGMU image, feeling the pulse of general public/patients/attendant at Medical University, by short interviews/questionnaires.

Future Prospects/Vision : Involve more people, including representatives from undergraduate and post graduate students, Nursing staff, administrators, clerical, class III and class IV employees. Have inputs from professionals outside medical university like management people, financial consultants etc.
